Los Alamos tasting rooms: a short walk on Bell Street
The SB Wine List team ·
Los Alamos is a small town on Highway 101, north of Buellton. Most of its tasting rooms line one street, Bell Street, so a visit here is a walk rather than a drive. We list ten places to taste wine with a Los Alamos address, and all ten take visitors.
Bell Street: seven rooms in about 400 metres
From the first room to the last is about 400 metres in a straight line, a quarter of a mile. West to east, with hours as each place posts them:
- Clementine Carter Wines, 388 Bell Street: Thursday to Saturday 12pm–7pm, Sunday 12pm–6pm, Monday and Wednesday 12pm–4pm, closed Tuesday. Walk-ins welcome. A flight of six wines is $40 a person.
- Bedford Winery, 448 Bell Street: daily 11am–5pm, and it says often later on weekends. Walk-ins welcome. Tasting $20 a person.
- Lo-Fi Wines, 448 B Bell Street: Friday to Sunday 12pm–6pm. Walk-ins welcome.
- Lumen Wines, 458 Bell Street, pouring at Pico restaurant: Wednesday and Thursday 3pm–8pm, Friday to Sunday 12pm–8pm. A reservation is recommended. Flights from $20 a person.
- A Tribute to Grace Wine Company, 490 Bell Street: Friday to Sunday 11am–5pm, with private tastings midweek by appointment. A reservation is recommended. A seasonal flight is $25 a person.
- Amada Cellars, 490 Bell Street: Friday to Sunday 12pm–6pm.
- Côtière, 645 Bell Street: Thursday to Sunday 12pm–5pm.
Out of town
Three more have a Los Alamos address but sit outside town:
- So Far Out Winery, 9110 Alisos Canyon Road: Thursday to Sunday 11am–5pm, closed Monday to Wednesday.
- Dovecote Estate Winery, 9229 Alisos Canyon Road: a reservation is required, and we do not hold regular hours. Its site lists tasting flights at $45 and $75 per adult.
- Shokrian Vineyard, Cat Canyon Road, north of town: a reservation is required, and we do not hold its hours.
So Far Out and Dovecote are about eight and six kilometres from Bell Street in a straight line, and both are inside the Alisos Canyon AVA. Our Alisos Canyon guide covers that area, what the federal record says about it, and the places nearby that pour its wine.
A weekend town
Eight of the ten post hours we can read day by day. All eight open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After that the week thins out quickly:
Bedford is the only one that posts hours for every day of the week. For a Monday or Tuesday, our piece on tasting early in the week shows which towns have more open.
Into the evening
Four Bell Street rooms stay open past 5pm on at least one day. Lumen stays open to 8pm Wednesday to Sunday, and Clementine Carter to 7pm Thursday to Saturday. Amada and Lo-Fi stay to 6pm Friday to Sunday. The open after 5pm in Los Alamos page keeps the list current.
Walk-ins and booking
Three of the ten say walk-ins are welcome: Clementine Carter, Bedford and Lo-Fi, all on Bell Street. See walk-ins welcome in Los Alamos. Lumen and A Tribute to Grace recommend a reservation, and Dovecote and Shokrian require one. Amada, Côtière and So Far Out do not say, so check the listing before you go.
What they pour
Syrah, Chardonnay and Grenache each appear on five of the ten lists, and Pinot Noir on four. Lo-Fi does not list its grapes with us yet.
Some names here are rare on our lists. So Far Out is the only place we list that names Charbono, Corvina, Marselan or Mondeuse, and Lumen is the only one that names Ruché.
On our map, the Bell Street rooms and Shokrian sit outside the boundaries of all seven AVAs we draw. Four places name the regions their wine comes from: Côtière names the Sta. Rita Hills, the Santa Maria Valley and the Santa Ynez Valley; Clementine Carter names the Sta. Rita Hills, Ballard Canyon and the Santa Ynez Valley; Lumen names the Santa Maria Valley; and Dovecote names Alisos Canyon. Ask in the room which bottles come from where.
Plan it
- Start on the [Los Alamos town page](/towns/los-alamos), with the map and every listing's hours.
- Pick a Thursday to Sunday. That is when most of Bell Street is open.
- Add a canyon stop. Pair Bell Street with So Far Out, or book Dovecote ahead.
- Build it in [My day](/my-day). Pick the date, and the planner shows each stop's hours for that day and marks any that are closed.
- Bringing a dog? None of the Los Alamos listings says dogs are welcome, and Dovecote says they are not. Our dog-friendly wine day lists the places that do.
A note on these numbers
We counted on October 13, 2026, from the ten approved Los Alamos listings we hold, each checked against the winery's own website. Weekday counts use only hours we can read day by day; Dovecote and Shokrian, which open by reservation, are left out of them. Distances are straight-line, from our map coordinates. Hours, prices and walk-in policies are as each place posts them.
