Wine tasting on a Monday or Tuesday in Santa Barbara County
The SB Wine List team ·
Plenty of tasting rooms keep a shorter week, and the days they close are usually early in the week. If your day off is a Monday or a Tuesday, it helps to know where the doors are open before you drive.
We counted from the posted hours we hold as structured data, day by day. Of the 195 places on our list that take visitors, 138 have hours we can read that way. The rest post hours we cannot pin to a weekday (by appointment, seasonal, or not printed), so they are left out of these numbers rather than guessed at.
Monday is easier than you might think
Of those 138 places, 104 post Monday hours. By town:
- Los Olivos: 36
- Santa Barbara: 19
- Solvang: 14
- Buellton: 10
- Lompoc: 8
- Santa Maria: 6
- Santa Ynez: 6
- Los Alamos: 2
- Gaviota, Goleta and Montecito: 1 each
Los Olivos alone has more places open on a Monday (36) than any other town has on our list in total. For a walking day there, see Los Olivos on foot.
Santa Barbara is the other easy Monday. Many of its urban tasting rooms post hours every day, and several stay open into the evening. If you are coming by rail, our piece on wine tasting by train lists the rooms nearest the station and which ones close early in the week.
Tuesday is the harder day
Tuesday drops to 69 of the 138. That is the day many rooms take off, often together with Wednesday. Almost every place open on Tuesday is open on Monday as well: 68 places post both.
By town:
- Los Olivos: 24
- Santa Barbara: 16
- Solvang: 9
- Lompoc: 5
- Santa Ynez: 5
- Buellton: 3
- Santa Maria: 3
- Los Alamos: 1
- Gaviota, Goleta and Montecito: 1 each
The steepest drop is in Buellton, from 10 on a Monday to 3 on a Tuesday. Santa Barbara holds up best, with 16 on a Tuesday against 19 on a Monday.
How to plan an early-week day
- Start from the day page. Each town link above opens a page of the places open that day, with their hours. A town gets a day page only when at least three places qualify, so a thin list never pretends to be a plan.
- Set the date in [My day](/my-day). Add your stops and pick the date. The planner shows each stop's posted hours for that weekday and marks any that are closed that day.
- Look at the edges of the day. Some rooms post shorter hours early in the week, opening later or closing sooner than on weekends. The hours on each listing are per day, so check the one you need.
- Ask appointment-only places directly. They are not in these counts. Their listings say how to reach them.
A note on these numbers
They change. Tasting rooms adjust their hours with the seasons, and we update listings as they do. The town day pages are built from the same data and stay current between our articles. Holiday closures are not reflected in weekly hours, so on a Monday holiday it is worth confirming directly.
