Wineries near the Santa Barbara train station: tasting rooms you can walk to from Amtrak
The SB Wine List team ·
Santa Barbara's Amtrak station is at 209 State Street. Step off the train and the nearest tasting room on our list is about 50 m away. No car, no parking, no designated driver.
We measured the distance from the station to every place we list, as the crow flies, using the coordinates on each listing. 26 tasting rooms sit within 1.2 km, which is roughly a 15-minute walk. Real routes are a little longer than a straight line, so allow for that.

400 metres to 1.2 km
Two more sit between 400 and 800 m: CrossHatch Winery on E. Haley St. and Deep Sea Tasting Room out on Stearns Wharf.
Twelve more are between 800 m and 1.2 km: Municipal Winemakers, Longoria on State, Whitcraft Winery, Jamie Slone Wines, Carr Winery, Loubud Wines, Au Bon Climat, Frequency Wine Company, Grassini Family Vineyards, Silver Wines, Kunin Wines and Lieu Dit Winery.
Walk-ins, and open every day
Of the twelve closest rooms, six tell us walk-ins are welcome: Paradise Springs, Margerum, The Society, Fess Parker Funk Zone, Santa Barbara Winery and Fox Wine Co. All but Fox post seven-day hours, opening between 11am and 2pm depending on the day. Riverbench and La Lieff recommend a reservation. For the rest we do not yet have a stated policy, and their listings say so.
Most of the closest rooms open every day by their posted hours. The exceptions: Orgullo and La Lieff post Tuesday as closed, and Fox Wine Co. opens Thursday to Sunday.
Late afternoon works well here. Several rooms near the station post closing times of 7pm or later on at least some days, including Melville, Paradise Springs, Margerum, The Society, Riverbench, Fess Parker Funk Zone and Skyenna. If you are catching an evening train, that leaves room for one more stop.
Further out, check the day before you walk: Whitcraft opens Friday to Sunday, Loubud Thursday to Sunday, Lieu Dit is closed Monday and Tuesday, Kunin is closed Monday, and Au Bon Climat is closed Tuesday.
